To celebrate LISTEN’s new website we’re interviewing a bunch of local Australian artists to profile them on the site. Introducing Shoeb Ahmad:
How would you best describe your music?
How did your band / musical project start?
an outpouring of feelings and emotions that was best expressed on my own rather than in the groups i already play with.
Do you make music with a political focus? If so, what is your focus? If not, why not?
there are political undercurrents to the music without being overbearing, tackling many aspects of identity in a present voice as someone who could become marginalised at any time.
What has been the biggest highlight as a band?
releasing this music to the public and sharing my journey for others to take inspiration from.
Who are your biggest influences musically right now?
portishead, pj harvey, the go-betweens, marika hackman, gwenno, mount kimbie
Where can people find your music?
