About

How LISTEN Began

Evelyn Morris got a little fed up with the tired, exclusionary conversations around music and posted her thoughts online.  A huge groundswell of interest in continuing the conversation surfaced, and it has lead to this incredible project being created.

There are about 15 core members (however, that number is constantly changing and growing) who contribute to organisation, mentoring, ideology, events, publishing, scouting for contributors, archiving and collection of huge lists of great music, presentation and more.  This dynamic team is committed to bringing feminism and equality into music in Australia, and will allow the conversation to grow and change however it needs to.

Membership

A large part of the LISTEN project is to encourage conversation around female experiences in music and allow musicians, and others involved in the music scene to connect. If you would like to become more involved in LISTEN projects, curate a LISTENING Party, or help in some other way, please get in touch.

Submissions

One of the best ways to become involved in the project is to contribute your thoughts or experiences. We’re currently looking for written and image based submissions. For more information read our detailed guidelines and FAQs here.

Mentors

For those who would like a little more guidance, be it putting together a piece for submission or navigating the music world in general, we’d like to help. Contact us for more information about mentorship through LISTEN.
