To celebrate LISTEN’s new website we’re interviewing a bunch of local Australian artists to profile them on the site. Introducing GERYON:
How would you best describe your music?
weird electronic devcore pop ?
How did your band / musical project start?
I’ve been playing solo for the last 12 years, slowly developing into what it is now. So I think in a way it started when I changed my name to Geryon.
Do you make music with a political focus? If so, what is your focus? If not, why not?
Not necessarily, but I think often your identity and/or experience can make your art appear to have somewhat of a political focus? My experience as a musician definitely has a political focus, but I’m not sure if that’s the focus of the music itself.
What has been the biggest highlight as a band?
There have been a bunch of highlights. It definitely felt like an achievement to finally release my EP into the world last year. I really struggle to release music, because I rarely see my work as finished, I feel like each song has its own life and to release it is stopping its growth :'(
Who are your biggest influences musically right now?
Kandere, SOPHIE, kt spit, HABITS, Various Asses, AQUA, SIMONA, Jhené Aiko, Two Steps on the Water, Jlin, Holly Herndon, Cassius Select
Where can people find your music?
